Global Montreal

Benefits include a group insurance plan (life, accidental death and dismemberment, health, dental, long-term and short-term disability), with premiums shared 50/50 except LTD and WI, which are employee-paid. Sick leave accrues at 1 day per month up to 30 days, with additional provisions for medical leave. Maternity/parental leave is up to 52 weeks, with job protection and salary provisions for certain periods. Annual vacation is based on seniority: 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 14 years, with vacation pay at 2% of income per week. Special paid leave, recall, and scheduling protections are included. The pension plan requires 4.25% contributions from both employer and employee. Salaries are structured by job class and seniority, with annual increases: 1% on September 1, 2023, 2% on September 1, 2024, and 1.5% on September 1, 2025. Employees above the maximum scale receive increases based on the maximum. Overtime is paid at 1.5x the base rate for the first 4 hours, 2x for additional hours, and up to 2.5x for combined penalties. Work on weekly breaks and holidays is compensated at premium rates. Night work (midnight to 7 a.m.) receives a 20% premium. Recall to work after a shift is paid at 1.5x with a 4-hour minimum. Travel expenses, per diems, and vehicle use indemnities are specified. Wage payment procedures, progression, and promotion rules are detailed. Clothing and grooming allowances are provided for certain on-air roles.

This collective agreement is between Global Montreal, a division of Corus Television Limited Partnership (on behalf of its general partner Corus Television G.P. Inc.), and the Union of Employees of Global Montreal, Local 4502, Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). The agreement is effective from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2026, and will automatically renew year to year unless either party gives notice of intent to renew or revise within the specified period. If such notice is given, the agreement remains in force until a new agreement is reached or the requirements of the Canada Labour Code regarding strike or lockout are met. The agreement was signed in Montreal on October 35, 2024.
